Hello everyone!
Welcome to my blog and the section of meeting me, the bodybuilder! Where do I begin??
I am 25 years old, live in upstate New York and married my high school sweat heart.
I began the journey into becoming a bodybuilder around the age of 21. At this time, I was attending a community college and I most definitely gained more than the freshman 15 in my time at school. When I look back on it now, it was quite disgusting how badly I was eating and treating my body. Fast food was the staple in my diet and snacks/candy/soda were the secondary part of it. I was not much of a drinker but I did occasionally have a beer when I was at social events. I needed to shop for some new clothes and when I went to find some, I could not fit into anything or be happy with the way I looked in some of them. From this moment on, my journey begins...
I decided enough was enough and that I needed to change. I started out slow, focusing on the fact that my diet is what needed to change. The next day, I went to the grocery store and did my own shopping for my own food instead of eating what my mother was cooking while living at home. I didnt go crazy, I opted for whole grain bread instead white, drank water instead of soda and bought the 100 calorie pack snacks for my sweet tooth as well as fruit like bananas. In about a months time, I lost 10-15 pounds and didn't exercise ONCE! These are results that kept me going and wanting more.
I met a friend a work who was new and he was in phenomenal shape and I envied his build. After talking with him, I mentioned that I wanted to start going to the gym but I was lost when I was in there. He was very helpful and offered to go with me and help me out. I was beyond excited when he said this and went out got a gym membership at our local YMCA. He was great as a teacher in helping me with proper form, and really motivating me to keep pushing to get out the last couple of reps in my exercises. Within a very short period of time, I was addicted to the gym and the way it made me feel. I was on cloud 9 and felt the best I have ever felt about myself in a long long time! I worked out with him for about 2 years roughly before moving on to my own gym that was a little cheaper in price. The rest of my journey is self taught with the aid of the internet and websites such as bodybuilding.com
Since the beginning of my journey, I have went from a weight of 265 pounds with not a lot of muscle all the way to a physique that I am very proud of, weighing 175 pounds right now with a good amount of muscle. I have definition that shows and vascularity like a road map. I hope to put on weight in the near future but have it be "clean" weight in the form of muscle and my goal is to be about 190-200 lbs with a low body fat percentage.
That's a short story of where I was and where I am today. Thanks for reading and I hope that I can inspire someone out there to start their change in their life with a fitness goal!
